“Town of Saints sind wesentlich vielseitiger als Mumford & Sons. Starke Songs, von bombastisch bis zerbrechlich schön”, resümierte 3voor12 nach einem Konzert der finnisch-niederländischen Indie Folk Band. Ein großes Kompliment für die jungen Musiker, zählen doch Mumford & Sons zu den Stars der Folkszene und 3voor12 zu den wichtigsten Plattformen für alternative Popmusik in den Niederlanden.

Bei Town of Saints fließen die unterschiedlichsten Genre zusammen, von traditionellem Folk über Punk bis Indie Rock. Gründer sind der Niederländer Harmen Ridderbos und die Finnin Heta Salkolahti. Das Paar lernte sich vor einigen Jahren in Österreich kennen und lieben. Fortan zogen sie als Straßenmusiker durch Westeuropa – sie mit Violine, er mit Akustikgitarre. Auftritte auf bekannten Festivals wie dem Eurosonic und dem Reeperbahnfestival folgten. Vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr schloss sich Schlagzeuger Sietse Ros den Beiden an. 2013 nahm das Trio sein Debüt auf. “Something To Fight With” versprüht den Geist der Bühnenauftritte – gefühlvoll, energiegeladen, mitreißend. Und natürlich beweist die Band darauf auch ihre hochgepriesene Vielseitigkeit.

“Town of Saints are much more versatile than Mumford & Sons. Strong songs, varying from bombastic to beautifully fragile”, concluded 3voor12 after a concert of the Finnish-Dutch band. A great compliment for the young musicians since Mumford & Sons are ranked among the best acts of the Folk scene and 3voor12 is the most important platform for Alternative Pop music in the Netherlands.

Town of Saints combine different genres – from traditional Folk to Punk to Indie Rock. The founders are the Dutchman Harmen Ridderbos and the Finn Heta Salkolathri. The couple met and fell in love in Austria a few years ago. Henceforth, they journeyed as street musicians through West Europe – she with a violin, he with an acoustic guitar. Performances at well known festivals like the Eurosonic and the Reeperbahnfestival ensued. About a year ago the drummer Sieste Ros joined the group. The trio recorded their debut in 2013. “Something To Fight With” reflects the spirit of their stage performances – sentimental, energetic, rousing. And of course, the band proofs on it their highly praised versatility.
